Recreation is one of the best ways to build a healthier, more connected Grimsby. Local clubs and organizations give children, families, seniors, and neighbours opportunities to learn, compete, volunteer, and enjoy the outdoors.

That is why I will be your voice for advocating support for the local groups that make these opportunities possible. They provide far more than activities—they build confidence, friendships, leadership, and a stronger sense of community. A great example happened last weekend at 50 point conservation.

Strait Line Anglers: introducing kids to fishing

Strait Line Anglers are a local multi-species fishing club that helps increase angling opportunities and knowledge in our area. Their kids-focused activities introduce young people to fishing, safety, patience, and respect for the outdoors in a welcoming setting. Learn more at https://straitlineanglers.ca.

Last weekend’s event at 50 Point was a great example. Kids and families had the chance to spend time outside, learn from experienced anglers, and enjoy one of Grimsby’s beautiful waterfront spaces.

Events like this deserve recognition and support. When we invest in local clubs and organizations, we invest in our children, our families, and the future of Grimsby. I will continue to support practical community recreation and the volunteers who make it happen.
